We’re having an online Latin Dance Party! So feel free to put on your dancing shoes and prepare your favorite beverages and energy food!

We weren’t able to get them to Canada in 2019, but they’re here now, in a live, high-energy performance direct from Cuba!

They’re Medicine Hat JazzFest favorites for a reason!

Wil Campa represents the very best of Cuba Son. His voice will capture and embrace you, with an undeniable, engaging stage presence. Wil is heralded as one Cuba’s leading artists

Wil’s childhood was spent in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, where he grew up amidst streets filled with joyful traditional Cuban music. Organizing, directing and presenting concerts to family and neighborhood friends from an early age inspired by Benny Moore, Miugelito Cuni and Arsenio Rodriquez. His ambition and love for music, dance and songwriting led him to study professional music at the acclaimed Esquela Superacion de Arte Raúl Sánchez in Cuba.

From 1988 to 2004 Wil Campa performed with well know Orchestra Cumbre and later Maraca participating in many elite Jazz Festivals in over 37 counties around the world.

His charisma and the ability to move an audience has brought him to share the stage with the ranks of Wynton Marsalis, Poncho Sanchez El Gran Combo, Natalie Cole, Michael Miller, Joe Lovano, Giovani Hidalgo, Jimmy Bosch, Jose Alberto el Canario.

Recording several albums with Cumbre and Maraca he is best recognized nationally and internationally for his Grammy-nominated contribution to the CD Tremenda Rumba in 2002.

In 2005 Wil formed what is known today as one of Cuba’s elite groups, Wil Campa Y Su Orquesta, releasing three recordings and winning a nomination for best album of 2021 at the Cubadisco (Cuba’s equivalent of the Grammy’s).

A story that begins in the countryside of Cuba and has taken him all over the world, Wil has the heartfelt acceptance of the Cuban people.
